So a little testing and the answer is really quite simple, with the Media Center add-in loaded the 8.1 File Explorer details for a recorded TV show look just like your Win 7 screenshot. With just standard Win 8.1 loaded it looks like your example.

So, I presume you have not loaded / purchased the Media Center add-in?

I tested this with two Win 8.1 machines pointed to the same network recorded TV show. One Win 8.1 machine had Media Center loaded, the other did not. Result was two different views.

Hope this helps.

I am experimenting with Win 8.1. Using File Explorer the file details that were available for editing in Win 7 Windows Explorer are not displayed. The fields still exist as they display when I add additional columns to File Explorer but you can not edit them from that page. Using the file-details option does not help.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and what is the solution

Haven’t has this problem, but have found that you need to go into the View tab, options to enable some other stuff that used to be there. Perhaps have a look around there.

I have tried all options. None display file metadata in a matter it can be edited.

See attached pdf with Win 7 and Win 8.1 screen shots.

Thanks. Loading the Media Center add-in solved the problem.
