I know this is a fairly old thread, but I have the same problem with my 9600xt and wanting to know if there has been any solution?
I just bought a LG 42" Plasma and a VGA cable to connect it to the PC.
When my PC boots up.. I dont see any bootup bios info, but I do see the Windows XP loading logo after that it goes blank????
I have tried to force TV detection in Catalyst, but still nothing?
I even tried different versions of video driver from 5.x to 6.1, still the same issue?
Any ideas? I assumed since i'm using a VGA cable it would be easy for the Plasma to recognise the PC?

i assume you have a monitor conencted to the DVI connector???
or is it JUST the TV???

No monitor connected, just the TV.
I'm not using the DVI connector, i have connected the TV using its VGA input and using the VGA output on the video card.
Is that a problem? Should I be using the DVI connector?

If you can use DVI it will be better...DVI=Digital, VGA=Analog...
Have you tried booting into Safe mode???
It sounds like your computer is running at a Resolution that your TV can't display...
When you turn on your computer, hit the F8 key, if you do it right, then you will get to the WIndowsXP Boot Menu thing, and it will have an option there called VGA MODE...give that a try...
also, if you leave the system, does it get into windows??? ie, can u hear the startup sounds etc..
Anyway...

DVI (digital) and VGA (analog) ... been doing a little googling and now I have a little understanding of the difference. Via the DVI interface the PC can adjust automatically to the TV, where VGA cannot right?
To use DVI I would need to get a DVI - HDMI cable. Better take a trip down to Dicksmiths...
It's been a long hard slog getting MCE up and running lots of sleepless nights and the wife on my back thinking i'm p&ss f$arting around (I know i'm not the only one)... but finally MCE is very stable and I though there were no more probs.. smooth sailing, just plug it into the Plasma and enjoy.... right :rolleyes:
