Choppy HD video playback mp4 shark codec solved

Hi all,

 

I have been having problems with playback of the HD video that has been shot on my Samsung Galaxy S3.

 

The playback device is a Win 7 Media Centre Dell GX620 with a ATI HD6450 using Catalyst 13.4 driver suite. When playing the video file the playbaback is very choppy, the audio is out of sync, and the Processor utilisation is pegged at 100%.

 

I am using Shark Codec 4.2.6, Win 7 32 bit. I messed with upgrading a few software components (Shark codec from 4.0 to 4.2.6, Catalyst 13.1 to 13.4) without success.

 

 

The fix:

On the MPG~MP4 tab in the Shark Codec config application, when I cleared the check box "Disable Media Foundation for MP4", the CPU utilisation immediately went from 100% to 5 or 10% and playback in full HD is perfect.

To follow up; I released new versions of the codecs today and have removed that checkbox from being selected when setting the suggested settings.
