Built the HTPC over 6 months ago and all was well. Asrock A75-Pro4M and AMD A8-3850 CPU with 8GB ram, a DNTV Quad tuner, Win 7 -64 and all was good. It typically picked up around 40 or so channels from Sydney area.
Recently, however, I have had reception issues with ABC & progressing to other channels. I thought it might be an issue with signal strength, so installed a masthead amp, (I live in the Blue Mountains & it can be dodgy on the back side of a ridge), even though it was ok previously. No help.
Now a scan today & it only find 8 channels! If I plug the antenna into the TV, it can pick up all the usual channels with no problem. Could it be an issue in WMC? What software should I try to see if that is the issue? I tried reloading latest drivers for the card & no change.
Help?

Well, I tried DNTV Live! with limited success. It would detect all the stations, but I couldn't get a picture from any of them. It just kept a plain black screen.
Installed MediaPortal. After going through another setup routine, it works!. All channels seem to be there (except ONE HD, has it been discontinued?) and I can watch them. Which begs the question; Why does it work perfectly, when WMC says weak signal & either breaks up or shows nothing?
Tomorrow might be clean reinstall day...

Have you checked your sources?

Thanks for that.
The channel frequencies helped a little, but the other is not the problem I have at the moment.
In my quest to get WMC to reset the channels, I deleted them all & told it to rescan. Now, DNTVLive! and Media Portal find all the channels, at least once they are pointed to them, and DNTV indicates, (for what it is worth), 100% signal strength & quality. BUT, WMC when it scans for channels, only seems to find ABC & SBS. So it seems to be starting it's scan from too high a frequency and it has quality issues receiving ABC.
Is there some way to force WMC to recognise a channel? Or some file or registry entry that can be edited to add the data manually?
edit: This time round, it has picked up 49 channels... So they are all back, now. Reception still seems dodgy on some, however.
In the listing of sources, there are 12 entries. So I guess this means that it has 3 entries for each tuner on my quad tuner card? How can I tell which ones to keep & which to remove?

OK, I now realise that the extra 'tuners' are the same ones reading different frequencies.
I had not noticed that bit of info at the bottom of the screen, before...
Now I am going through all the channels to find the ones that work best, as I have multiple copies of some of them (ie 4 x ABC1 2 x ABC2/4 etc). This will take time, but at least I will have them all working in the end and understand a bit more about how this thing works!
Thanks for the assist, logifuse! It was more help than I originally realised.
I still don't know why WMC was working & picking them all up, and then couldn't find them again, though...
Ah well, one of life's little mysteries, I guess.
