Hi guys we are moving from NZ to Brisbane and I currently have a HTPC set up here running Windows 7 with a local NZ EPG running through the Big Screen EPG program, how hard is it going to be getting a EPG working with free-view channels in Australia and how many channels are there my HTPC contains 2 WinTV-HVR-2200 cards.
I will admit I haven't had a look through any posts yet to see how easy it is just thought I would ask if it was worth bringing the HTPC or get a boxed solution from the likes of JB HIFI.

The HVR-2200 is fine here. You may need the specific drivers from http://www.newmagic....pport/index.asp but only if you have problems.
All our main channels are MPEG2 & are a mixture of SD & HD. Each network (there are 5) tends to have a main SD channel, a secondary SD channel & an HD channel. The ABC has an extra kids SD channel during the day. There's also a community TV SD channel.
There are also a couple of h.264 infomercial channels.
About 20 channels in total.
The stations broadcast an EPG, or you can feed in EPG data from a subscription service (IceTV), or there are other sources of XMLTV data that you can feed in via BigScreenEPG.

You might need some special software to convert the channel names.
In your part of the world they'd be known as:
two
sivin
nine
tin
and .. iss-b-iss.
