Here's the scenario: my dad likes to listen to the ABC commentary while watching the footy. He normally does this via a digital radio (on Grandstand), but Grandstand is now denied the option to have 2 different games available over digital radio, so sometimes they'll be broadcasting the game that isn't live on the TV. The other game(s) is available via streaming through their website (at the same delay as the digital broadcast), so on occasions, I've plugged my phone in to his stereo & listened to that (over wifi). Works well enough, but it's not a solution for him.

At the TV/stereo he has ethernet or wifi available.

The obvious thing would be to get him an internet radio, but the way Grandstand allocates matches to streams is erratic, & most streaming radios (& apps like TuneIn) tend to play streams that are significantly delayed.

He has an always on PC in his office, so if that could play the AAC+ stream in a web browser & send it to a device over the LAN with minimal delay (2 seconds would be OK as FoxSports HD ads an extra couple of seconds) that would be great. I tried RogueAmoeba with a Airport Express & while it works most of the time, it's a flaky. The Kaiser Baas Orb looks like it might be what I'm after, but it's a bit vague in the description.

I guess what I'm looking for is a kind of network sound card? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Justin
