I have also downloaded the Xbox App for ABC Iview and this works fine on the Xbox. Because of this I'm assuming my network is set up O.K. is this correct?
When I attempt to connect to WMCenter from the Xbox I see the WMCenter page come up and see programmes I have recorded, but then I get a disconnected signal from Xbox. Curiously some times I even get into a progrmme and watch for a few seconds before the disconnect.
Any ideas please on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Enabling/disabling PnP in the router can sometimes make a difference, but updated firmware might have a fix, so it's worth checking that.

So to try and explain further and to answer your questions. The Internet connection is on the PC, but it is coming from a phone jack in the wall to the broadband modem which in turn connects by a cable to the router which then by cable goes to the PC. (So is this a wired connection?) The Xbox in the other room connects wirelessy to the router on the PC I guess.
But as the Iview conection is working from PC to XBox doesn't than mean the connection to W Media Center should work too ???
Updated firmware for what? And with this kind of connection should I still to try Enabling/disabling PnP in the router (if I can work out how to do that)

Ok, what brand & model number is the router? The Xbox will probably connect to the internet via that, but that doesn't mean it is talking to the wired part of the network (& therefore the PC) correctly.

Basically the problem is that the router connects wireless to the internet OK, wired to the internet OK, but wireless to wired inside the network is a problem (it's an old model & was quite a common issue with old wireless routers). Hopefully DLink has addressed it with updated firmware.

Thanks Justin, will try that out. That model is notoriously bad for this sort of thing. You'll need to work out which hardware revision it is & then find the latest firmware for it on the DLink website & update it via a web browser on the PC (instructions will be on the DLink site).

you should reconsider ways to run a network cable between the router and xbox (think holes in walls if need be)
Any wireless 'g' router to a MC extender will often give problems IMO.
