This app has not run for more than 5 minutes without "unexpectedly stopping" since being installed. I was after a BD player to integrate into my 7MC. I wanted a simple solution not a week long fault finding challenge.

Hello Dean

Was this an upgrade of PowerDVD i.e had you been running an older version without problems? The reason I ask is that I have been using ver. 11 for some while (Win7 x64 in MC with no problems at all and I was considering an upgrade to ver. 12 at some point. I have given the trial TMT a go but it does not intergrate well with MyMovies so do not see it as an alternative!

Hi Joe,

I had been running 9 for some time with no problems. I un-installed 9 and did a clean install of a full version of 12. From then on it would open but as soon as I wanted to use it to play any media it simply crashed, then it brought up an error report and closed.

I reinstalled several times, as well as checking all my drivers etc but no luck. I then decided to revert to 9. But when I went to activate 9 I kept getting an incorrect code error. I re-entered the code very carefully and rechecked every letter but no luck, neither 9 nor 12 will work now.

I also noticed that after I un-installed 12 that the un-installer did a very poor job of removing components. In fact most of the folders and files were still there. It is the most buggy code I have seen in a long time. As my HTPC is a purpose built Win7 device with good specs and nothing else running on it I had expected no trouble. You might want to wait a while.

Deano

What problems did you have? I've been using TMT with My Movies for a few years and it integrates extremely well.

Dean, you could try running ccleaner for temp file and registry cleaning duties? I don't normally like these kind of programs, but ccleaner has been excellent on the numerous machines I've used it on.

Thanks TiggerK,

I have just given that a try and it removed multiple entries for PowerDVD12. I made sure (as per tech supports request) that everything else is up to date and that my antivirus is off. I then reinstalled and got exactly the same result. Freeze, Error Message, Close. So I uninstalled it again, it appears to uninstall in the most basic sense. But it does not actually uninstall. I had to go into MSCONFIG, prevent it from starting. Then delete everything by hand again. Run ccleaner again. Then I decided to run PowerDVD12 straight to the recycle bin where it can sit for a while.

As per this thread from MyMovies forum, http://www.mymovies....g=posts&t=28012

Also thanks to Dean for the additional info. and good advice.

Just an aside but does anyone know if Win 8 is likely to have native Bluray support?

Joe
