Hey all,
Just chasing some advice on what's available.
Chasing a budget PCI-e card capable of 1080p playback and 5.1 audio via HDMI. Fanless if possible.

All the latest cards (Nvidia 2XX series up, ATI HD3XXX series up) do 5.1 (or 7.1) over HDMI.
They can all do 1080p, but that's not the right criteria. It's about how well they can deinterlace MPEG2 (our TV). A GT520 looks like a nice option, but it has a flawed design that means it's a poor deinterlacer.
My rough rule is Nvidia: GT ignore first digit & get a minimum of 30 for the next two (e.g. GT430); ATI: Ignore first 2 digits & get a minimum of 60 for the last two (e.g. HD5670).

OK cool, thanks for the tips!
So had a bit of a look around and struggled to find any of those cards that are fanless except for the bottom 2 (nothing in the Nvidia range at all)
What do you think of these?

Probably need an ATI expert to be sure, but I think either will be fine.
Do a Google search for "vector adaptive" & the chip numbers to make sure they are capable of that. This article might help too: http://www.anandtech...c-gpus-shootout
