Hi!

First off, thanks for this great app!

I noticed a bug in v20B18. MCEbuddy calculates the diskspace prior to conversion. When there is not enough diskspace, MCEbuddy stops with error. A good thing, but in my case it calculates the diskspace of the wrong disk. I think MCEbuddy uses a temporary folder to write to, before muxing, and the space in this folder is used to calculate (and stop). Seems fair, but there is no way (or is it?) to config this temp-folder.

Logfile:
2011-08-15T23:38:51 MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob
System language for stream purposes is English (United States) (eng)
ERROR> MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob
Insufficient destination disk space avalable in D:\RECORDING_ARC_NEW. 1607524352 available, required 7184262832

1607524352 -> diskspace on C:, not on D:

Either the message or calculation is incorrect, or we need a config-option to set the tempfolder, or the destinationfolder is used as temp.

Conclusion:
MCEBuddy calculates diskspace on C: to work correctly, even if destination is not on C:

Thanks!

I don't think the subject is exactly fair as the OP also describes, but please consider adding a configurable temp path to the next beta. Have a few files that I simply cannot convert at this point because of lack of disc space on my SSD system disc thanks.

For a temporary fix, install MCEBuddy to the drive you want to store the converted video files on.

l have the same issue. MCEbuddy is installed on my C: drive which is only a 60Gb SSD drive. My Media Center record folder and my MCEbuddy output folder are on a larger 1TB D: drive with 700Gb of free space. However, I can't get MCEBuddy to convert any movies as it complains about there being not enough space. Seems like a pretty easy bug to fix but I can't get my hands on the code.

I'll try re-installing MCEBuddy on my D: drive.

Hopefully this will be fixed in the next release?

Yep mikeboy got it right, for now install it on the drive where you want it to convert (it picks up the temp working path on in the installation directory).

For the BETA 20 release I can look into adding an option in the config file for temp paths in the MCEBuddy.conf file. Empty means default, else you can alter it.

I just discovered the hard way that when you get the insufficient disk space error and you have the "Delete Original File" option selected, it still deletes the original file.

Just lost about 65 programs :-(

Perhaps it should not delete the original file in this case?

@ajdennis

Very sorry to hear that. I know it hurts :(

Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into this to see if I can incorporate that into BETA 21.

Meanwhile,

Upgrade to BETA 20 - it allows you to configure your temporary location in the mcebuddy.conf file. you can put a new drive like d:\temp or something.

Hi Ramit

I didn't lose anything too critical, so no worries :-)

Thanks for looking into the issue. I am using BETA 20 - but I didn't change the directory. Easy in hindsight :-)

The programs all disappeared before I had a chance to realise what has happening.....

Cheers
Austin
