i have tried a few different options for watching a few video streams from bigpond but have had now luck. I have tried using a MCL file both with the stream within the MCL file and also referring to a html file with the stream within the HTML, but such luck.

atm i am just working with telstra streams as they are unmetered on my telstra velocity FTTH connections, see below

You should be able to create a playlist file (such .asx format) for each stream above (that points to these rtsp: streams). Then you can put the playlist files into one of the video folders configured in 7MC (or add a path) - and launch each stream.

nb: The MCL files are generally use to launch Windows Media Center HTML Addins (or can point to non Media Center URL's/.exe's) - but generally don't work if pointing directly at media files themselves.

ps - thanks for the links above. Interesting that these (t-box) links can be accessed outside of bigpond network (i'm on TPG) - but quality is pretty poor (so maybe thats the point of it).

thanks niall

those links via a bigpond connection are really good, rarely misses a frame.

got each channel working on the 360, shame the quality of v8 supercars isn't higher.

now to go looking for more IPTV and radio

take that t-box!!

Ummm could you guys please give step-by-step instructions on how to do this?

I have an ADSL1 8Mb Telstra connection, and an Xbox 360 in each room, hooked up to the main (Windows 7 MCE) HTPC in the lounge room.... so it sounds like I'd be able to use this, but I have absolutely no idea how to go about it. :)

This one works for me:

rtsp://wm9.streaming.telstra.com/online-ucs-wh_musichigh_2010062816300030

I found some freeware called URLSnooper, and it seems to track the urls of anything you happen to be streaming.
So I found the url, put it in an .asx and put that in the video folder.

It takes a few minutes to settle down but after that its great.

Haven't tried it through the xbox yet...thats next

All,

Thanks for pointing these links out.

I have attached a Bigpond Channels folder with the .asx files and a few icons for those that are interested. The logos aren't the greatest but you get the point. Copy the entire folder into your videos area or link to it through libraries and away you go.

I gave this a go. It works fine on my Win7 Media Center, but not on the XBOX. I get a message that says:

Cannot Play Video
The file type is not recognized and cannot be played. Either the correct codec (a file that compresses/decompresses audio/video) is not installed or the file is corrupt.

But as far a I know, you can't install additional codecs on the XBOX 360.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this working?

Occasionally the links will be changed and you need to update the .asx file in notepad.

I tried this and it works great, thank you very much! I also opened it up on my Xbox 360 and it just worked! I am running the latest dash....not sure if that helps? Also running Windows 7 64bit with shark codec pack.

Good Luck,
