Had a stable system for many months, until a week ago the dreaded Ghost tuners issue came up, and the missus lost a recording (thankyou ABC for iView!).
So, bit the bullet and decided to upgrade to Win7 at the same time (we also have a new digital camera that takes videos in AVI, so was also after the native AVI support).
Install was fast and efficient, but my woes started with trying to tune signals on the TinyTwins...After most of saturday morning tearing hair out and getting furstrated, doing lots of testing, I managed to determine that the recently published updated TinyTwin drivers (from Sept 1, 2010) were to blame. System restore, then used the old drivers from the Vista installation, and the two tuners were back in business...
Boy it's nice to be able to choose four tuners directly in the 7MC settings instead of reg hacks!
Our AVI files were picked up perfectly in the library, but playback is choppy (they reside on my WHS server machine, and LAN connection is via HomePlug). Can confirm it is a network throughput issue (the camera records in 720p), since copying the files to the local HDD, playback is fine. Playback of the AVIs from the study laptop (same room as the WHS box) via WirelessN is flawless, so I guess it's a case of fine tuning network connections.
I also took the opportunity to trial BigScreen EPG (with IceTV as my data source), and that is working well.
One week in, and no sign of ghost tuners issue, but I'm not that hopeful. If it happens again, I may resort to getting the new Quad tuner from DigitalNow...;)
