HP Pavilion Media Center m7470n with WINDOWS XP / MCE

re-install without all the garbage

1. Jellybean program to get your XP / MCE product key#
2. copy i386 folder & CMPNENTS folder to dos bootable usb stick
3. copied all of HP driver folder as well
4. find out your program for encoding / decoding MCE TV, by down loading MSN program “Microsoft Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility: DECCHECK.exe” . In my case it showed me that it was CyberLink “CLSD.sx” which is HP DVD Player. I found the program in my recovery DVD and copied it to my usb key .
5. Then I added AMDAway Driver Installation Package ver. 1.0.1.6 from the internet
6. c:\> cd i386
7. entered the magic dos command winnt.exe /2 and it copied the folders in my usb stick “CMPNENTS” with 3 folders “MEDIACTR, NETFX, TABLETPC”
8. re-booted and it was like xp boot cd but runner from the usb stick.
9. it installed , I thought
10. I got an error when I started to install from the usb stick it couldn’t copy or find notepad, no big deal there
11. after that was done it re-booted and I got an error system 32 \hal.dll
12. I booted the compter with Winternals PE bootable live windows then I ran winnt32.exe from drive c:\i386, the pop-up windows asked me it I wanted to do a full install “Yes” the Winternals PE bootable live was pre SP1 so my windows / mce key# worked, new install and fixed my error system 32 \hal.dll.
13. I rebooted the PC and it started to install from drive “C ”, it couldn’t find the MEDIACTR the cab on the “2nd cd” which there was non, so I had to browse to the “cab file on the dvd/rw” the backup of the usb stick and it worked.
14. after that was done I started to install my drivers, and installed CyberLink “CLSD.sx” which is HP DVD Player. To Play/record in MCE
